The Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt

Duncan just wants to color.  But, when he opens up his box of crayons, all he finds is letters from his crayons saying that they quit!  What can Duncan do to convince the crayons to come back and continue doing what they do best?  This imaginative, humorous, and creative story lends itself well to persuasive writing.

Let's Read Books!

Under each of the tabs above, you will find some of my favorite books.  I have grouped my books into three categories: Primary, Intermediate, and Young Adult.

Picture books can be found under the primary tab, novels under the intermediate tab, and books for upper middle school/high school under the young adult tab.  The books are cross-categorical which means they could be used at all grade levels.  Picture books are appropriate at the older levels, as well as novels appropriate as read alouds in the younger grades.

Please feel free to share and post your favorite books.  Let's inspire the love of reading!

A Snicker of Magic by Natalie Lloyd

Midnight Goluch used to be a magical place.  But, long ago a curse drove the magic away.  Twelve-year-old Felicity, a word collector, sees words all around her.  Her mother, originally from Midnight Goluch, has been cursed with a wandering heart and is constantly uprooting the family and moving from place to place.  When Felicity arrives in Midnight Goluch she sees the word "home" for the first time.  Will Felicity be able to convince her mother to stay in Midnight Goluch?  Will she be able to bring the magic back and break the curse?  Be prepared to be uplifted and inspired!
