Schlup Scoop:  fairy tale comics: Classic Tales Told By Extraordinary Cartoonists is a graphic novel. Graphic novels give the brain more of a workout per sentence than any other type of media (Lyga, 2006).  To learn more about the benefits of graphic novels, click on the link below.

The Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt

Duncan just wants to color.  But, when he opens up his box of crayons, all he finds is letters from his crayons saying that they quit!  What can Duncan do to convince the crayons to come back and continue doing what they do best?  This imaginative, humorous, and creative story lends itself well to persuasive writing.

Let's Read Books!

Under each of the tabs above, you will find some of my favorite books.  I have grouped my books into three categories: Primary, Intermediate, and Young Adult.

Picture books can be found under the primary tab, novels under the intermediate tab, and books for upper middle school/high school under the young adult tab.  The books are cross-categorical which means they could be used at all grade levels.  Picture books are appropriate at the older levels, as well as novels appropriate as read alouds in the younger grades.

Please feel free to share and post your favorite books.  Let's inspire the love of reading!
