A Snicker of Magic by Natalie Lloyd

Midnight Goluch used to be a magical place.  But, long ago a curse drove the magic away.  Twelve-year-old Felicity, a word collector, sees words all around her.  Her mother, originally from Midnight Goluch, has been cursed with a wandering heart and is constantly uprooting the family and moving from place to place.  When Felicity arrives in Midnight Goluch she sees the word "home" for the first time.  Will Felicity be able to convince her mother to stay in Midnight Goluch?  Will she be able to bring the magic back and break the curse?  Be prepared to be uplifted and inspired!

  1. Maria, I loved the book too! I enjoyed your succinct yet vivid summary and particularly like the fact that you linked to a book trailer. What a fun way to share an experience with a book--I can't wait to try a book trailer myself and eventually have my students create them:)

  2. Maria,

I love how you are going to have an intermediate and a primary section on your blog. I think this will be a valuable resource to teachers and to parents. With having the intermediate and primary section this will be a great resource for teachers to "double dip" into their opposite section. As a primary, teacher I think the intermediate section would be a great resource to use as read aloud books for my students. I believe for intermediate teachers it can be a valuable tool to use the primary section to teach literacy concepts to their students. You completely hooked me into the book! Can I please borrow it to read aloud next year?

I enjoyed how you took the time to write a summary, include the book trailer, and provided the link to purchase the book.

Also, if I have your permission I would gladly give your link out to my parents for them to access as well! The background is very fitting too, looks like our lovely book-room ;)! Nice job Mrs. Schlup!
